  2. Hi I have a 94 Mustang LX 3.8ltr V6 and my battery is a pile of garbage, I was wondering if it is possible to Jump Start An Automatic. A few people told me that if u get it rolling in neutral up to speeds of 35+ and then put it into Drive that it will Jump start it, is this true?

    You will add some fluid through the dipstick tube and start the engine. The pump in the transmission will refill the torque converter while the engine is running. You will need to add fluid until you reach the appropriate level on the dipstick.

    It will get you a good jump start on your way to buying a new transmission. Pulling an automatic transmission without the engine running will cause the geartrain to rotate without lubrication because the pump in the transmission is run by the engine. Short answer is you cannot push or pull start automatic cars with automatic transmission, not only will it not work, it can damage your transmission.
