  1. My range sensor and fluid temperature sensor read eH or eL and my transmission doesn’t shift at all, or not at the right time, what could cause this?

  2. My AODE or 4R70W transmission equipped with your TCS shifts back and forth from 2nd to 3rd at around 80 MPH causing an RPM fluctuation, what could cause this?

  3. I have installed a TCS on my truck along with the mass air conversion from Ford Racing. I cannot get the transmission to shift, and my range sensor reads Neutral when I am in the Overdrive position, what would cause this?

In an AODE or 4R70W application pins two, and 17 coming from the TCS harness must be soldered together, connected to the gray wire with the red stripe coming from the transmission harness, and then run to sheet metal near battery negative, or the EEC ground. This completes the circuit for the sensors in the transmission. If this is not done the three sensors that work off this ground (OSS, MLPS, TFT) will be floating, and read incorrectly. Without the correct output shaft speed (OSS) sensor reading, the transmission will not shift properly.

  2. My AODE or 4R70W transmission equipped with your TCS shifts back and forth from 2nd to 3rd at around 80 MPH causing an RPM fluctuation, what could cause this?

You could either have a poor ground on the OSS (Output Shaft Speed Sensor), or you may have accidentally installed the resistor for the E4OD VSS in your AODE or 4R70W OSS circuit. The resistor on the front cover of the manual is for the E4OD transmission only.

A very common mistake when installing the TCS with the mass air conversion kit is to tee all of the wiring connections with the stock 60 pin computer. The assumption is usually made that the pins you are tying to don't have any function in the mustang PCM that is now running the engine. This is true for most of the connections except pin 30. Pin 30 on the Mustang processor is the neutral drive switch input. If you tee into this connection it will cause the range sensor reading to be incorrect. If you cut the wire between your connection and the factory 60 pin connector at pin 30, then the signal will only be going to the TCS and the range sensor will read correctly.
