Full Harness for AODE and 4R70W
Connector Overview
If you purchase the Full Harness with your Baumannator TCS after you plug in the four connectors and connect the backup light and neutral safety wires, there are only FIVE wires you will have to connect for minimum functionality. The remaining connections are for optional features.
1 - Transmission Bulkhead Connector
This connector plugs into the matching D Shaped Connector on the Passenger side of the transmission. The transmission side of this connector points straight up and is located on the back corner of the pan rail.
2 - Transmission Range Sensor Connector
This Connector Plugs into the transmission range sensor located on the drivers side of the transmission. The range sensor slides over the shaft that passes through the transmission to actuate the internal manual linkage. This sensor is retained by two bolts.
3 - Output Shaft Speed Sensor (OSS) Connector
This connector plugs into the OSS sensor located on the drivers side of the transmission. The Sensor is located on the transmission case with a connector that comes off at a 90 degree angle. It is located a few inches back from the Transmission range sensor.
4 - White Wire Bundle
These wires have printed labels on them that indicate their function. These four wires are for the backup lights and neutral safety, and will wire to the existing wires for backup lamp and neutral safety on your vehicle. Connection is as follows:
- 12V IN RUN - Connect to a 12 volt power source that is hot with the ignition switch in the run position. This is the power feed for the backup lamps. Most factory Ford applications will have a purple wire with an orange stripe in this position.
- BKUP LAMP - Connect to backup lamp bulbs. This wire will supply 12V power to the backup lamp bulbs when the shifter is in the Reverse position. Most factory Ford applications will have a black wire with a pink stripe in this position.
- IGN START - Connect to the Start Terminal of the ignition switch. This wire sends 12 volts from the ignition swith to the neutral safety switch when the ignition is in the start position. Most factory Ford applications will have a white wire with a pink stripe in this position.
- STRT RELAY - Connect to the S terminal of the starter relay. This wire will connect the 12 volt power from the IGN START wire to starter relay, when the transmission lever is in Park or Neutral. Most factory Ford applications will have a red wire with a blue stripe in this position.
Always make sure you have a properly functioning neutral safety switch!
5 - TCS Connector
This connector plugs into the Baumannator TCS transmission controller.
6 - Individual Wires and 4 Wire Unified Cable
These wires contain optional connections, and mandatory connections to the Vehicle. In the following list mandatory connections will be shown in bold, and optional connections will be shown in normal text. Connection of wires in this bundle is as follows:
- Red Individual Wire - Connect to switched 12 volt power that is hot in Run. An inline fuse holder is already present with a 10 amp fuse. If you are using the 60 Pin Ford EECIV processor to run a fuel injected application, this wire will connect to pin 37 or 57 of the EECIV connector. The factory Ford color of this wire will normally be Red.
- Black Individual Wire - Connect to a clean ground near the battery, but not directly to battery negative. If you are using the 60 Pin Ford EECIV processor to run a fuel injected application, this wire will connect to pin 40 or 60 of the EECIV connector. The factory Ford color of this wire will normally be Black or Black with a White Stripe.
- Orange Individual Wire - Connect to Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) 5 volt reference feed. If you are using the 60 Pin Ford EECIV processor to run a fuel injected application, this wire will connect to pin 26 of the EECIV connector. The factory Ford color of this wire will normally be Orange or Brown with a White Stripe. If you are using a carburetor you will need to add a TPS to it and connect this wire as shown on our TPS Retrofit Page.
- Green Individual Wire - Connect to Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Signal Wire. If you are using the 60 Pin Ford EECIV processor to run a fuel injected application, this wire will connect to pin 47 of the EECIV connector. The factory Ford color of this wire will normally be Green or Grey with a White Stripe. If you are using a carburetor you will need to add a TPS to it and connect this wire as shown on our TPS Retrofit Page.
- Black or Pink wires, soldered together - Connect to a sheet metal ground away from the main TCS or EFI ground. Use a ring terminal for best contact. This is the solenoid ground, and it is an electrically noisy ground. Keeping it separated from the main TCS ground will reduce the chance of erratic operation due to noise on the main ground.
- White Individual Wire - This connection is optional. Connecting this wire will not change the way your TCS functions at all. It is meant to connect to the PIP signal present on EECIV processors. The PIP signal puts out an RPM signal. This wire cannot be connected to any other RPM reference. Connecting this wire to coil negative or other RPM signals WILL cause damage to the transmission controller. This wire is only included to allow the capture of RPM information with our data logging software that will be introduced in the future.
- Blue Individual Wire - This connection is optional. Connect this wire to the Blue wire with a black stripe coming from the cruise control amplifier to the steering column switches if manutronic operation is desired. Manutronic allows you to use the factory speed control switches to upshift and downshift through the gears when the shifter is in the OD position.
- 4 Wire Grey Cable Color Code:
- Red Wire in 4 Wire Cable - Supplies power to OD cancel switch, OD cancel indicator lamp, and Table Select switch. This wire is a 12 volt power output, so it should be insulated with heat shrink or tape if you are not using these optional features.
- Green Wire in 4 Wire Cable - This input will cancel Overdrive when 12 volts is applied to it momentarily or constantly depending on software calibration settings. It connects to one side of a momentary, or toggle switch. The other side of this switch should be connected to the red 12 volt output wire listed above.
- White Wire in 4 Wire Cable - This wire provides a ground anytime Overdrive is canceled. Connect this wire to one side of an indicator lamp. The other side of the lamp should be connected to the red 12 volt output wire listed above.
- Black Wire in 4 Wire Cable - This input will cause the TCS to run off of the secondary shift table when 12 volts is present on this wire. If you are using this optional feature, this wire should connect to an add on toggle switch. The other side of this switch should be connected to the red 12 volt output wire listed above.
That's all there is to it. This is mostly a plug in installation now, and as far as solutions for modern powertrain control go this one is pretty easy. If you have any questions about the full harness, or the Baumannator TCS please submit your question trough our FAQ system.
