The advent of electronically controlled vehicle power-trains has revolutionized the performance industry. Within the last decade, electronic fuel injection has gained nearly universal acceptance among performance enthusiasts, in stark contrast to the popular opinion of twenty years ago. At Baumann Electronic Controls, we are committed to developing leading edge electronic systems for high performance and diagnostic purposes. Additional systems are currently in development, so please check this page periodically for the latest developments.
Electronically controlled automatic transmissions now permit much greater flexibility and reliability than the old completely hydraulic transmissions of the past. At Baumann Electronic Controls, we embrace this change and plan to be instrumental in bringing technology forward by providing the products and tools to enable everyone to exploit this new generation of transmissions.
The Ford E4OD and AOD-E/4R70W and GM 4L60E and 4L80E are examples of the current generation of electronically controlled automatic transmissions. While these electronic transmissions still utilize a valve body to control their hydraulic functions, most of the decision-making and calibration intelligence is handled by electronics which direct a much-simplified (and thus more reliable) valve body via hydroelectric solenoid valves. Under the command of an electronic system, these valves control shift scheduling, line pressure, torque converter clutch operation and shift feel.
Our transmission control systems provides complete tunability for the GM 4L60E, 4L80E, Ford AOD-E/4R70W and E4OD transmissions and allow them to be retrofitted to all earlier vehicles. If you are considering a transmission upgrade, an electronic unit will probably be the best choice. For more information, please see the Performance Guide in our Tech section.
Our OptiShift transmission controller represents the state of the art in electronic transmission control systems. OptiShift is a cost-effective, easy to install, and easy to use transmission controller for performance and heavy-duty applications. It is equally well suited to the finest street rods, 8-second drag cars, off-road vehicles, high-powered diesels, motor-homes, and specialty applications. OptiShift features the smallest size and most useful features of any transmission controller on the market, and is proudly made in the USA. Please click on the OptiShift banner to go to OptiShift.com and learn more about this exciting new system.

The Baumannator TCS electronic Transmission Control System, in conjunction with our valve body product, allows complete control of electronic transmissions and permits retrofitting to earlier vehicles. This system is a microprocessor-based, fully-tuneable electronic transmission control system. The Baumannator TCS currently supports popular Ford transmissions (AOD-E/4R70W and E4OD/4R100), as well as the GM 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L80E and 4L85E transmissions. Versions of the Baumannator TCS are planned for many other transmissions as well, and will be introduced in the future.
The Baumannator TCS can be used to retrofit electronic transmissions to earlier vehicles or can be fitted to applications that originally used electronic transmissions. This system will provide complete transmission tunability via a PC or laptop computer. The versatility and features provided by this system expand the capabilities of automatic transmissions to a new level, rendering older, non-electronic transmissions obsolete. Utilizing performance oriented transmission control strategies, the Baumannator TCS provides much better performance and durability than OEM electronics, while allowing excellent drivability. Please view the detailed product description for key features and applications of the Baumannator TCS.
If you already own a TCS and would like to upgrade to the full harness to get all new wiring and connectors, it can be purchased separately below
Show Me the Baumannator TCS Detailed Product Specifications

If you purchase the Full Harness with your Baumannator TCS after you plug in the four connectors and connect the backup light and neutral safety wires, there are only FIVE wires you will have to connect for minimum functionality. The remaining connections are for optional features.
This is a mostly plug in installation now, and as far as solutions for modern powertrain control go, this one is pretty easy. The TCS Full Harness Information Page gives a very detailed description of what it takes to install our TCS system using the full harness. After Checking out the Full Harness Information Page if you still have questions about the full harness, or the Baumannator TCS please submit your question trough our FAQ system.
